Indoor Air Quality

The air in your house passes through the ductwork several times an hour — which makes the HVAC system the most powerful air-quality tool you own. We upgrade it with the things that actually work: real filtration, whole-home humidity, and UV where biology grows. No gadgets, no hype.

Air Quality Advice From The Duct Guys

We come at indoor air quality from an angle most installers can't: we clean Fox Valley ductwork for a living. Construction dust, matted pet hair, years of fine grit — we vacuum it out of these systems every week, so when we recommend better filtration, it's because we've seen exactly what the current filter let through.

That perspective also keeps us honest about sequence. New filtration can't un-dirty ductwork, and a duct cleaning can't stop new accumulation — each does its own job. When your ducts need cleaning first, we'll show you on camera; when they're already fine, we'll tell you that too and save you the spend. The recommendation comes from the house, not the sales sheet.

Indoor Air Quality FAQs

Where should I start with indoor air quality?

With an honest look at the system, not a product. Sometimes the right first move is a duct cleaning to remove the dust reservoir already in the runs; sometimes it's straight to a high-efficiency media filter; in humid-summer homes with musty AC smells, coil UV earns its place. We assess first and recommend from what the house actually shows us.

Do you sell ionizers or plug-in air purifiers?

No — deliberately. We install what the evidence supports: serious media filtration and UV germicidal lamps at the coil. Much of the ionizer category doesn't clear that bar, and some devices generate ozone, which is worse than the problem they claim to solve.

How do these products relate to duct cleaning?

They're teammates with different jobs. Duct cleaning removes the accumulation already in the system; a media filter keeps it from rebuilding; UV keeps the coil biologically clean. We do all three, which is exactly why we won't sell you one as a substitute for another.

Why does winter air in my house feel so dry?

Because it is — heating cold outdoor air collapses its relative humidity, and by January many Fox Valley homes run in the teens. A whole-home humidifier restores the 30–40% range: less static, better sleep, protected wood floors, and comfort at a lower thermostat setting.
